I've noticed many people who come to this site are a bit lost as to where to go and what business opportunity will be the best for them. The good thing is that they found the right place to have these questions addressed by many who have already travelled that road. There are so many valuable resources here, and I strongly urge EVERYONE who is new here to explore the links and learn all you can. My heart is so touched by those moms who want to stay at home with their kids and help their hard working husbands, or who are single and just want to get a break.
I have come to the conclusion that the best way to have financial independence is to work for MYSELF, not an employer. I will always be at the mercy of someone else in this arrangement, so for me, being an employee or contractor for someone else is not an option. I want the freedom that comes thru properly managing my own business, not just by being a business owner. This, of course, requires time, perserverence, energy, a few extra brain cells (!) and a bit of capital. I chose a network marketing business because the potential for reaching my goals is far greater than any other industry I found.
I do quite a bit of social networking, both for business and personal reasons, and have come to realize that everyone else with a product to sell is doing the same thing. My in-box is filled daily with email from someone with the next big money making opportunity, or a valuable e-book that I MUST read if I want to be successful in my business. There are those who insist that 6 months ago they were about to get evicted and now they are a beach bum in Hawaii. They drive fancy cars and live in fancy homes, and guess what? YOU can be doing the same thing if you join their business or buy their book.
These types of ads and the people who recruit new business associates in this way are the ones who give the MLM industry a bad name. People who join in with teams like this usually end up spending their hard earned dollars on product they might not be able to market, and end up wasting valuable time, hard earned dollars, and turn forever away from an industry that is among the fastest growing in the world. It is a business that creates success for you as you help others to create their success. Sort of a "Pay it Forward" attitude is the way I look at it.
Can you join a network marketed company and make money? YES. Will it take hard work and some capital investment? YES (most of the time, but not always). Are there honest and true people in this industry who support their families and their associates? YES.
But remember, there is no such thing as something for nothing. Never believe in the "Get rich Quick" stories you will hear.
I read a great article by Relli Siegel, and her advice was totally inline with my own. In her article, she suggested a few tools to use to help you decide which Network Marketing business is best for you. Here are a few of her thoughts:
1. Timing - is this a good time for you? Is this a good time for these products?
2. Product line - Should be unique, exclusive, and highly consumable. Ask yourself, are people already spending money on this? Would I buy this product anyway? Will other people buy this product anyway? If they don't , than they will stop consuming it and that creates a problem.
3. Legacy Position - Is growth being built whether I am there or not?
4. Momentum: There are 5 categories that a company can achieve:
a. Real product - up and down in less then 2 years
b. Already a million $ company - already made its exponential growth.
c. Flat line company - been around but never hit the momentum
d. Direct sales company - sales but has no DUPLICATION system in place
e. The Visible Company - a company that has the potential to become category “b” company.
You want to join a CATEGORY E company - this is the company that will create wealth for you.
You will be most successful if you sell products that you feel good about.
Make sure that you feel VERY good about what you offer, that it is a part of you. If people see that you believe in the product you are marketing, they will be willing to try it themselves.
