I can't believe I submitted another application last week with a new email address and just got an invitation!!! I am so happy and upset at the same time! The applications requires the $175 background check...which I am not crazy about, but I do think from all I have heard about this company, it is worth paying. Here is my problem....It says there is an additional $55 for checking anyone who lived, worked or went to school in NY in the last "7" years...ok.. well I graduated over 20yrs. ago!!!! but it is tacking on the additional $55, because it says I listed an address with NY! It doesn't asks for dates, but it shouldn't apply to me! I hate that I have to pay $175, but I do not want to pay $55 I don't have to??? You either submit and pay it or you can't proceed? Can anyone PLEASE help me with this situation?? I printed out all the other papers needed and am so ready to start working, but don't know what to do? PLEASE HELP ME? Thank you!

I believe it states to only list previous addresses where you have lived in the last 7 years. So, if you lived in NY over 7 years ago, don't list it. I hope this helps.

it's not where I lived that's the problem...it;s where I got my diploma 30yrs ago! And you have to list your education level....so I don't know how to get past it????

I work for LO's, I'll see what I can find out. Maybe go to the First Advantage site, that's who is doing the drug/background/credit screening and try to contact them. I'll let you know if I can find anything out for you!!!

Q. Is there an extra fee if I recently lived, worked or went to school in New York?
A. EDS requires the criminal check to cover all counties that you lived, worked and went to school for the last 7
years. The State of New York has a mandatory State fee of $55 for processing criminal searches which will be
charged to your credit card if you have lived, worked or gone to school in NY in the last 7 years.

Just found this on the first advantage website. Does this help?

ty...but I read that...that is my point!!! it says 7 yrs. but when it asks for education..it doesn't ask what yr you got your diploma...so I have to just put NYC and don't know how to get past that??? If you are able to find out something from LO, that would be great...I am going to try and call first advantage tomorrow and I sent an email to LO, but haven't heard back from them either... I sent the fax they require and am going to mail my papers in tomorrow too, but don't know what I am going to do about the background check?? As if the $175 wasn't bad enought!!!!

Good Luck Diane. I was so stressed out with the ap process. They definitely don't provide enough info for me. Then things like this, there is no easy communication. I hate this for you. I mailed my packet on Wed. the 3rd and I'm ready to take calls today, if that gives you an idea on how fast it can move if you can just get that ap sent. Once again, Good luck.

I was on a conference call today and asked about this for you. They AF was not sure but to said that you should contact First Advantage. Sorry, but that is all I could find out.

Diane, Yes it does ask for the month and year you received your diploma..so I would not pay the additional 35.00 as it does not pertain to the 7 year time span..hope this helps us..
