The Home Business Network

Hi All! If any of you have a home business making products for kids, you have, hopefully, been informed of the new federal regulations going into effect in February. Known as CPSIA, these regulations require anyone selling a product for a child 12 or under must have that product tested for lead and other chemicals. As far as thrift stores go, you don't have to test the products but you have to label them and if down the road they prove to have lead or other targeted chemicals, you will be held liable.

This law didn't even get publicized until late December, and most WAHM's are not aware of it. Most who do know about it are planning to close their businesses because the cost of testing will prove to be too high. These are businesses that make hair bows, baby toys, handmade clothing, knitted caps, sweaters, shoes, ANYTHING used by or for a child 12 or under.

There is a ning site set up for more info. If you or anyone you know might be affected, you should check it out. The site is http://cpsia-central.ning.com/
