The Home Business Network

I just began taking calls. My first 2 shifts have not been good experiences. Am beginning to wonder if I am cut out to do this job, which is very disappointing considering the time I have put into training.

I think my big problem is that I need hands on practice in the training that just was not there. I can read and watch examples, but until I have done the actual navigation with my own two hands, I really haven't learned it.

When I logged off of my shift Friday afternoon (which was my 2nd shift ever), I was so upset that I was fighting back tears. I put my one hour Friday night shift up for trade knowing I was in no shape to take any more calls that day. I don't think anyone picked them up, so there goes my schedule compliance. This morning I deleted my Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday shifts until I decide what I am going to do.

I have two webinars tomorrow (Sunday) that I will go to. One is Increasing feedback scores and the other is a 30 day group of us newbies.

I just don't know about this and I'm feeling very down.

Amy. I understand your feelings. I have been there but believe me it does get much much easier. Soon everything will come to you like you have been working this for years. What skill are you assigned to? My son has citibank and he hates it because there are too many grumpy people calling and yelling at him. But like I told him you have to put yourself in their shoes and try to understand why they feel the way they feel, and if it was you how would you like your problem solved. He tried that and said that it was much better the next day and hopefully it will continue to get better.

I definitely understand how you are feeling! The great thing with West is that as long as you work the minimum for your line, you're good to go. And working just the minimum at first is a great way to learn and to get used to the calls.

Also call the buds for your line and ask them for advice on how to get through these calls. I've asked them before to do practice run throughs on the scripts but they were unable to do so unfortunately.

But you may be able to find some people on your line that can help you through the whole experience. The www.workplacelikehome.com forums are a great place for support and feedback.

You aren't alone in this. No matter what line we work, we've all been new before and know your situation VERY well. Just give it some time. Work half an hour a day during a slower time of day to get used to the scripts and the job. And don't let it get to you. You'll never see these people again, and it's highly unlikely that you'll ever take their calls again. So no matter what they say, remain cheerful and upbeat, empathetic to their needs, and as helpful as you can.

Amy,
I understand exactly how you feel. When I first started HSN I was so stressed out I did not think that I could do the job. If you go to that workplacelikehome.com it will help you out a lot. In my room I have notes hanging on my walls and sticky notes everywhere. I have only been with them for alittle over a month now and still there are things that I have trouble with. Just hang in there I say to the customer's to just bare with me because I am new and when you say that then they understand how it is to be new at a job. Then when I am done I tell them thank you so much for beeing patient with me and they say no problem I understand. Just let them know that you are knew and they will understand and it will take the stress off of you.
Good luck and hang in there!!

Did you apply for a set shift or pick and choose hour as they become available?

what you've went through, I went through with A(ffordable) S(avings) P(lan); trying to gain 5 leads. It was a struggle and I went in the depressed mode where I only worked 1 day a week until later the manager just closed out my account with no warning. Out of the 2 week experience, I gained 1 lead. Really it was two, but one cancelled. To top it all, it was BBB accredited. You don't hardly see that with a at home service.
