My story is slightly different...I always wanted to have my own business and I have helped close friends establish business operations of various types for themselves, but I was never in the situation to go for it on my own. So I spent the last 8 years working for a local company that gave me some much needed insight into how to bring all those pieces together.
This year I turned 39, and my goal has always been to have my own business by the time I was 40. So now is the time, and I'm just getting it off the ground. I left my full-time job just a couple of weeks ago, and I'm busily trying to network and build the relationships that are going to help me succeed.
My wife and daughter are being very supportive even though my daughter doesn't quite understand how someone can "work for themselves". She's 14 and shows great potential for being an entrepreneur in her own right...so I hope that my experience helps to show her the way in as much as providing us with the lifestyle we have always wanted.
Well, I have a tradeshow over in Fort Worth to get off to today, so I better get on the ball. It was nice to hear from you, and if you or any of your clients need any graphic design or printing, maybe I can help!
